Invention

Invention is a long-term strategy that creates innovative technologies, model systems, new values, and modified social relationships that, in turn, generate more effective responses and complete solutions to critical problems. New and renewable energy options, carbon taxes and cap and trade schemes, marine spatial planning, ecosystems services analysis, regional management agreements, and plans and policies for ocean resources beyond national jurisdictions are just some of the fresh concepts being studied and implemented to sustain both ocean and climate.

Strategies for the Future

Cost-effective opportunities exist today to begin reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and a number of emerging technologies look to deliver more substantial reductions in the future.
Dramatic, immediate commitment to nurturing new technologies is essential to averting disastrous global warming - Scientific American details several strategies and inventions.
Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion is an energy technology that converts solar radiation to electric power. OTEC systems use the ocean's natural thermal gradient—the fact that the ocean's layers...
ScienceDaily (2005-09-08) -- An Earth System model developed by researchers at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign indicates that the best location to store carbon dioxide in the deep...
What is Marine Spatial Planning?  "(MSP) is a public process of analyzing and allocating the spatial and temporal distribution of human activities in marine areas to achieve ecological...
